Vågen rom og hytteutleie offers rooms and cabins for rent and is a great place to start if you want to experience Bergen and Hardanger. Living with us, you are very close to a bicycle lane leading to the centre of Norheimsund, the Steinsdalsfossen waterfall and the village of Øystese. Our holiday homes are near to the fjord and a public beach, rollerskating rink, and playground for the children. You also have direct access to many hiking routes taking you through the woods or to peaks such as Slåttenuten/Masta (736 m./2243 ft.) from where you have a tremendous view over the Hardangerfjord.
Steinsdalsfossen and Hardanger Fartøyvernsenter are the best known attractions in the vicinity. One can actually walk behind the waterfall without getting wet, and next to it are a tourist information centre and a café. The maritime museum and shipyard called Hardanger Fartøyvernsenter is situated in the centre of Norheimsund, and here you will find a shipwright’s workshop and exhibitions. There are also activities for the children, and a café serves refreshments. In the summertime, you can go on a rib-boat safari, which starts every day from the quay in Norheimsund, or take a day trip on the fjord with Hardangerfjord Sightseeing. This boat leaves for Eidfjord daily, calling at Herand, Utne, Kinsarvik, Lofthus and Ulvik before returning. In Eidfjord, a bus can take you on a furter sightseeing trip to Norsk Natursenter Hardanger and Vøringsfossen waterfall.
We are not far away fromJondal and Folgefonna glacier, where you can go skiing in the middle of summer at 1200 meters/ 3600 feet above sea level at a summer ski centre. Folgefonni Breførarlag also offers daily guided walks on the glacier.
Vågen rom og hytteutleie provides a good point of departure if you want to visit Bergen for the day. Driving to Bergen takes about 75 minutes – or you can go by bus. The local bus company, called Skyss, has several departures every day for Bergen and back (routes 925 and 930.)
You can stay with us if you want to hike to the famous rock formation Trolltunga. It would take approximately one hour and three quarters to cover the 67 kilomtres/42 miles to the starting point, and the trip includes the ferry from Tørvikbygd to Jondal.
